Purpose
Kronen aims to create greater openness and better interaction between the square and the surrounding buildings’ functions. The project will create a combination of a natural flow, relevant functions and spaces where people want to settle down. Kronen today has many qualities, but there is no obvious traffic to the shops, or visual contact between street level and the raised terrace. Along with an increase in the width of the staircase, there will be room to sit down, while lush planting and new paving on the stairs will ensure that the terrace does not start when you stand on it, but already down on Vanløse square.
Interaction, Gathering point and features
The ambition is to create a city center that the citizens of Vanløse want to engage with. This involves good and exciting offers, giving people a number of reasons to visit and spend time at Kronen. New functions will be added, which in interaction with the retail stores will encourage more people to use the area in different ways. People should want to shop for groceries and do sports and exercise, and it should be natural to take care of other things when picking up the kids, going to work, catching the metro or just want to meet up.
The wooden stage provides a gathering point for users, old and young, and an opportunity for events to take place. You can also sit or lounge on the edge and rest your legs, sheltered from traffic, while watching the city life unfold in and around the square.
There will stalls, outdoor seating, and a seating area with a sun canopy.
A large playground takes place in the middle of the urban space. With slides, climbing elements and rubber mats, children and young people have the opportunity to play, unfold and romp. In continuation of the play area, an outdoor training area for adults will be created.
