The garden by the fjord in Roskilde
BUILDER Private
AREA 200 m2
IMPLEMENTATION 2007
A state-of-the-art house in exclusive materials close to Roskilde Fjord is surrounded by a multi-level, multi-themed garden. The west-facing garden closest to the fjord has a coastal theme, with reeds, wild roses and seaside asters being the preferred plant choice, strategically placed in relation to a large continuous terrace and a beautiful shed for kayaks and other water sports. A high retaining wall separates it from the beach and protects against high tide. As an extension of the terrace, an outdoor shower is located on the narrow passage north of the house, which is used frequently after spending time in the fjord. To the east is a large patio filled with pots and herbs in raised beds. The patio is so large that it can be used all day and evening when the west wind from the coast is too dominant. The transparent house is in close contact with the fjord and vegetation throughout, giving the property an extra dimension.
The easternmost part of the garden is located on an elevated plateau and has the character of a more traditional garden with lawn, ornamental trees and shrubs that feel the season in flowering and fruiting. This part of the garden has a zen-like atmosphere and a bench strategically placed to overlook the water and retreat from the harsh coastal climate allows for contemplation and reflection.
