STATUS Done
Outdoor areas for the new kindergarten in Tuse near Holbæk. The outdoor area is around 19,000 m² of which b The eagle house has a total area of 2,400 m². E Part of the existing building is renovated and connected to the to the new building.
Main grips
The proposal is based on a focus on preserving the existing qualities of the area, such as marginal planting and hill formations. This, in combination with a new raised terrain, gives the area a spatiality from the start while minimizing the impact on biodiversity and the microenvironment found in existing soil and vegetation. The area is connected by an existing and new path system that creates a link to a skating rink and the commuter parking lot. Existing well-preserved playground equipment is reused in new contexts and in a connection with activities, creating safety and recognizability in the playground for children and adults in the transition from old to new. The playground consists of a toddler play area for the nursery and a play area for the older kindergarten children. The aim is for the playground elements to motivate and inspire unfolding, imagination and sensory-motor play.
Motor skills and sensory stimuli
The outdoor areas are emphasized with a focus on sports and movement. On stimulating the senses and motor skills. At the same time, emphasis has been placed on stimulating the children with different levels of difficulty in terrain and play elements, so that the area seems inclusive and appeals to the individual child. A wide variety of plantings and associated habitats/biotopes have been planned, ranging from “untouched” forest and scrub to tall grass/flower meadows and drying beds.
Rainwater management
We work with local drainage of rainwater from roofs and pavements where the rainwater is delayed and infiltrated. At the same time, rainwater is used recreationally as a play element and as a visually stimulating element in the area. Water is also an important element in terms of increasing biodiversity in the area. The area already has great potential with its hilly terrain and naturally growing fauna. This is strengthened and conscious efforts are made to create increased biodiversity in the area, which can also be included as part of the educational work.
